      Sen. Cornyn's Health Care Reform Alert

      Last night, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid released his 2,074-page health care bill, which Senate Budget Committee analysis shows will cost American taxpayers $2.5 trillion when fully implemented over ten years. 

      Until we have had a chance to read the full 2,074 page Reid Bill, it’s impossible for Americans to fully grasp what the Majority Leader has cooked up behind closed doors. It is my hope that Sen. Reid will afford all Americans the same courtesy that he had: ample time to study the legislation and deliberate the best way to proceed. 

      What we do know so far, as reported by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), is that this bill will have a wide, negative impact on Americans across the board – from seniors on Medicare to small business owners to future generations of Americans who will be footing the bill. The bill will increase taxes on all Americans by nearly half a trillion dollars and breaks the President’s pledge not to raise taxes on working families earning less than $250,000—at a time that unemployment is at a 26-year high. 

      While CBO has not been given time to analyze the Reid bill’s impact on premiums, every other independent analysis to date has found that Reid’s new mandates and taxes will increase health care premiums on American families. The Reid bill increases taxpayer spending and liability for health care over the next ten years—instead of reforming our already insolvent entitlement programs. It will gut the already insolvent Medicare program by $464.6 billion, hurting access to care for seniors. It includes a government-run public option that will, according to CBO, have premiums higher than private plans and cause millions of Americans to lose the coverage they currently have. The largest expansion of Medicaid since it was created means the Medicaid program will be the only coverage option for 60 million Americans. It will also impose $28 billion in punitive taxes on employers who do not comply with Washington’s new job-killing mandates.

      It is essential that Congress take the time get health care reform right. If the President and Majority Leader are more interested in getting health care reform right for all 300 million Americans than they are in putting a political feather in their cap for the midterm elections, this shouldn’t be an issue.

      They spoiled my Halloween with X-mas decorations. Why? Well I have a theory. Now those of you who know how I feel about religion, I want to get something out of the way. Yes, I believe Jesus was a real person, he wasn't the son of some random god but he was an activist and a martyr and for that I respect him. It takes real guts and conviction to die for your beliefs. Okay that's out of the way.

      It's probably just me, but have you notice that the Thanksgiving themed things (ya know, scarecrows, gourds, those weird wicked...coney thingys, I think they're like cornacopias...I don't know, and other centerpieces) have been...kinda hard to find. I found a few small scarecrows in a dollar store, but they have five full shelves of X-mas stuff. I remember when I was little, there was always some sort of Thanksgiving themed item, but as I got old, I noticed that they're numbers are fewer. I used to see little ceremic figures, the ones with the big eyes and little mouths. They freaked me out, but my mom seemed to like them. Now I go into the big stores, like Target and there isn't much there. Why? This is my theory.

      Marketing isn't just big business. In fact, if you go into a store, everything in there was placed in a certain area for a reason. Like have you ever noticed, the big cans that actually a better deal than the smaller cans are always at the bottom of the shelves and the ones that are reasonably priced, but not as great as a deal are in the middle within actually reach and eye view? That's marketing. Another example is the candy next to check out. Have you ever noticed that the candy papers normally have cartoons and bright colors? It catches the eye of the children, why do you think that Joe Camel cartoon of camel cigarettes disappeared almost overnight? The deal bins are normally up front where people will see them as they walk in. Haven't you ever gone into the store set on buy two or three things, but see those things in the bins at such a low price, you buy them? Marketing is very manipulative, especially if you don't know that much about it. Personally, my snack shopping is always done at the dollar stores. You can get two generic 3 litter bottles of soda for the price of one brand name 2 liter soda. Also be careful with brand name association. They're not band-aids, they're adhesive strips. It's not Windex, it's glass cleaner, and other things like that, but I digress.

      The theory (according to myself and my bestest UCF alumni friend who has a degree in business like myself) is that people will more likely impulsively buy things if they see X-mas decorations. Sounds weird, but think about it. X-mas, the time for giving, decorating your house so much you can see it from space at night, and tree trimming (I don't know about you, but there are already people selling them here...in 80 degree weather). And there are already adds in the paper about the indoor snowy wonderlands. It just puts people in the mood to shop. Even for themselves. The mall here is actually getting busy again. I believe they started to put the decorations up earily than three years ago because that was the first signs of uh-oh. People traditionally buy more around the holidays, the atmosphere actually puts people in the mood to shop. It's the same concept as when you hear or smell certain things, you think of other things. Like when I smell old spice, I think of my grandfather or when I see that weird white cotton fake snow, I think of my mother's cereamic light up snowy village she used to put up every year, until our black cat kept playing catzilla. I'm sure there is a technical term for this, but when people hear, see, smell and even sometimes taste certain things, certain memories or events are trigger. My poor friend can't enjoy marshmellows anymore because of a little incident during a camping trip. Now of course hearing the music and seeing the lights can sometimes trigger these memories of holiday's past. The good, like your brother actually remembering your favorite, the bad, like your grandmother, giving you a barbie at age 19 and giving your brothe...T-T, and the ugly like your dogs tearing apart the plush toy you got them in less than five minutes. These memories, good or bad are actually impulses to do just as well or better than the year before. Marketing says money can't buy happiness, that's what shopping is for.

      Now this theory is still just a theory, but marketing practices have been wrapped around this theory for over a decade, if not longer. If there are any other theories about why there are bring out decorations earlier every year, please share.

      I have long been mystified as to why Americans and Canadians do not understand Islam. It is very simple. While most Christians and Jews pay only lip service to their bibles the Muslims believe in the koran with every part of their being. They rise before dawn to pray and they pray five times a day. They mean business in their worship of the false god allah.

      They believe in every verse of the koran and the Hadith. But Americns have never read the koran so they are shocked by such carnage as was caused at Fort Hood.

      So let me quote just a few verses from the koran. Are you ready?

      Infidels (unbelievers) are the Muslim’s undoubted enemies (Sura 4:101).
      This ideal is instilled in the minds and hearts of Muslim children by their mothers.

      Muslims are to besiege them and lie in ambush everywhere” for them.
      (Sura 9:5)  That’s us they are to besiege because we do not believe in and follow the teachings of Mohammed.

      Seize them and put them to death wherever you find them, kill them wherever you find them, seek out the enemies of Islam relentlessly” (Sura 4:90)

      I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them. (Koran 8:12)

      Take not Jews and Christians for friends. They are friends to one another. He who takes them for friends is one of them.” Sura 5:51

      Believers, make war on the infidels who are your neighbors and let them find you rigorous. (Sura 9:123).

      Allah loves those who “fight for his cause” (Sura 61:3).

      If a Muslim does not go to war, Allah will punish him. (Sura 9:39)

      Muslims are to be “ruthless to unbelievers but love Muslims (Sura 48:29).

      Kill any person you wish if it be a “just cause.”  (Sura 6:152)

      ‘’I have been ordered to fight with people till they say, none has the right to be worshipped but allah ‘’ Hadith 4:196

      Mohammed also said, Know that paradise is under the shade of the swords.’’ Hadith vol. 4:73

      On July 4th 2002 a Muslim taxi driver in Los Angeles shot to death two people at the El Al terminal in LAX and three more were wounded. For weeks thereafter Psychologists and Psychiatrists wondered why this apparently peaceful man had killed these people. But the answer was very clearly pinned to his front door that morning. A note on the door said simply “Read the Koran.”

      A few years earlier a Muslim soldier Hassan Akbar in Kuwait hurled a grenade into a tent full of American Soldiers. Two officers were killed and 14 injured. Everybody wondered what prompted him to do it. Simple, he had been reading the Koran and he believed those soldiers were his enemies.

      So why waste time trying to discover what prompted Major Nidal Malik to open fire at Fort Hood. He was a Muslim and he believed in the koran. The only mystery to me is why the army would allow any Muslim to be a member. The koran clearly states Infidels (unbelievers) are the Muslim’s undoubted enemies. Yes, we Christians and Jews are their enemies. We did not say that, they did.

      Is it not enough to remember how many Jews have been killed in Israel by Muslims who boarded their buses and entered their restaurants with bombs? Why is it so hard for our leaders to understand that Muslims are determined to kill unbelievers and take over their countries for their fictitious god allah.

      I do not hate the Muslims. In fact I believe they are to be pitied because they are first victims of this terrible cult of war and hatred. I do not suggest that we should start killing Muslims. I do think they need to be controlled in every situation and never given opportunity to serve in our armed forces or police. They consider us their enemies and feel it is their duty to kill anyone who does not bow the knee to allah By the way I have deliberately used lower case for allah, and koran because neither is worthy of capitalization.

      I wish that this horrific incident would bring Americans and Canadians back to God. What will it take? Another 9-11? No that didn’t do it either. I don’t know what will. God is never mentioned anymore in our politically correct system because our leaders are afraid of offending those who believe in allah. Yet Muslims shout Allahu Akbar!” Meaning “Our god is greater than your God.” Well I have news for you. Not only is no God greater than our God, but in fact there is no other God but our God. So let’s stand up and fight for Him.

      Texas Traffic Ticket Death Sentence

      No person shall ever be imprisoned for debt. Texas Constitution Article I Section 18

      A tragic death in Tarrant County highlights the need to reform Texas traffic ticket laws.

      Ten days into serving her sentence at the Tarrant County Jail, a Fort Worth woman died.

      Police say Adrienne Lemons was serving time for unpaid traffic tickets. The 35-year-old was rushed to John Peter Smith Hospital on June 13, where she later died. Lemons leaves behind a 3-year-old child.

      Lemons' family said she was not receiving the medication she needed for a serious medical condition.

       

      In Texas traffic tickets do not contain jail as a possible punishment. No judge can sentence a traffic ticket defendant to any period of jail time. Nevertheless thousands of Texans are jailed annualy over traffic violations. How is this possible?

      Two ways. The first is when a defendant does not appear at this traffic ticket court date and a failure to appear/warrant is issued. Second, failing to pay fines can lead to a warrant for the payment of those fines.

      These unjust policies reflect the truth about Texas traffic enforcement. Tickets are taxes and local government will incarcerate to maximize revenue. Talk about public safety is good PR. However, the truth is that county jails in Texas have become debtors prisons, and our police are human repo men for local governments.

      Like other unjust policies this has a disparate impact on the poor. Ticket defendants who can not afford an attorney or the prohibitive ticket fines have no choice but to "sit out" their fines in the county jail.

      Contradictory Supreme Court rulings allow Texas police to arrest for traffic offenses, and allows the State to deny court appointed counsel to the indigent.

      Texas needs to reform this system before another innocent person dies in jail. First, we need to end the practice of incarceration for failure to pay ticket fines. We do not allow the government to incarcerate for failure to pay other taxes (property, sales etc) why should ticket taxes be different. Texas already has the ability to suspend your driver's license for non payment.

      Second, if Texans decide that some traffic offenses (driving with no license etc) should require jail time as a possible punishment the we need to require court appointed counsel in those cases.

      Such a system would have prevented Ms. Lemon's death, and prevented the fake ticket scandal in Dallas. Government greed has already cost one life. No one should be imprisoned for debt. Traffic tickets should not be a death sentence.

      Robert, I'm usually 100% in agreement with you, but this time I'm not so sure. If you take away the possibility of jail time, what incentive is there for someone to pay a traffic ticket? I think that the number of unlicensed and/or uninsured motorists out there indicates that for a substantial portion of the population, just suspending their drivers license isn't much of a motivator.

      If Texas wants incarceration for tickets, then we must have court appointed counsel available. Otherwise, it's a corrupt money grab.

      Uninsured motorists/unlicensed drivers are a huge problem in Texas. If Texans want to arrest for those offenses then we should grant indigent defense.

      So maybe my new stance is
      1. 95% of traffic offenses should have no arrest capability, even for failure to pay.
      2. If you want to arrest for no DL/no insurance- then provide court appointed counsel.

      It is always a problem when money and government get together. As you state, "traffic tickets are a huge source of revenue for local governments"

      That is the fundamental problem. If there was no incentive for the government to raise money this way, traffic laws would be much more sensible.

      In Indonesia, the neither the military nor the police are fully funded by taxes, and are expected to provide ways of funding themselves. This leads to huge corruption because they effectively run two protection rackets to raise the money.

      Should we be promoting this type of corruption in the United States by allowing local jurisdictions to keep the money from fines? If you reduce the maximum fine you remove the incentive for people not to break the law. But if you remove the monetary benefit of the fines from the local jurisdictions, you eliminate the abuse.

      What can we do to be heard? That is horrible what happened to the young lady. I want to help.

      What to do? That is a tough question. First, I would contact my state rep and let them know you want the system reformed.

      This was my daughter-in-law. She was not perfect but she did not deserve this. Maybe the deputies or jailers could not give out meds BUT they are responsible to get her medical attention. She did hand over three prescription bottles when she entered their care.

      This is the reason why I fear the police more than the criminals. I have lived overseas in socialist countries and experienced the fear of knowing the police, prosecutors and judges have all the power, guns and colorable authority to destroy your life. No wonder so many wealthy educated Americans are permanently emigrating to other countries to get away from the creeping fascism here.

      I am one of those in debt from Washington state thanks to traffic laws there I got pulled over and ticketed I face 90 days in jail and 1000 dollars in fines for driving while suspended I had a legal license for 10 years and only 2 of it was for Washington state I never received any infractions in any other states I was licensed. I left the state and live elsewhere now I still have a pending traffic court date, but I'll be damned if I am going to spend another dime on those leeches and do 90 days in jail for a paperwork offense. I served the jail time for the DUI offense and got behind on the money owed. I worked my entire time living in that state paying the ridiculous mandatory insurance rates, starving to death, sleeping in my car so I could raise the funds to get out of debt so I could get it reinstated. So I bought a bus ticket and left, no way in hell should I get a longer jail sentence for being broke compared to the original offense. I did the 1 day minimum in jail on a first offense for a DUI before that my record was great for 9 years, the minimum jail for driving while suspended is ten days in Washington and they don't care for what reason either you could have an unpaid speeding ticket and thats what it will get you.

      I hope the Lemons family sues and get the ball rolling on all the deaths in Tarrant County, In Aug of 2003, we lost an Uncle in Tarrant County Greenbay jail under odd circumstances, my grandmother was able to see Danny by a video on the 3rd day of his death. She got to see him only in transport from one van to another going to the funeral home. They even done his makeup and cut his hair for know extra charge at the morgue. The funny thing is a jailer posing as inmates writes several letters saying Danny was a good man and died in his sleep, about 15 inmates in all, it was handwriting analyzed this man wrote as at least 7 of them I have documentations. In Dec 2004 we get another letter, after my Aunt wrote to him calling him a murderer, this one addressed Colorado Springs and post marked Ft Worth, talking about he didn't know how bad Danny's injuries where that he had received, again posing as someone else and again the handwriting is confirmed. Danny sure made a lot of friends in a short amount of time. The handwriting matches the officer, the signatures are ex-inmates that weren't even in jail at the time. The autopsy says heart attack, that's all, He was 40 in good health at the time before he went to jail. He had visible bruising around his neck, I have pictures that my Grandmother and her daughters took on the outgoing door of the medicals examiners, I have all the letters this so called officer wrote, I don't know what else to do. Can anyone out here help me stop them, more and more deaths are happening in Tarrant County Jail someone really needs to look into these deaths

      Poor people need to pay their bills or they deserve to sit behind bars. If they can't afford a lawyer then tough cookies, freedom belongs in the hands of people with more money. People like you must work harder so people like me don't have to. :)

      To Anonymous July 21, 2008 10:08 PM, You say that I need to work harder! well to tell the truth I own 3 business and I work more than most men or women and I pay my bills, I don't see why it gives any one any right to not give health care to another person, or to miss treat them due to the being in jail or in prison, they are still human, not a wild animal, if they acted that way, then they would be locked up and watched 24/7, and giving medicine to keep them sedated, I work hard to and still believe that you treat people with dignity and not persecute them ,that is what the law is for.

      The problem is that no one has the money to challenge local laws (and state) in federal court. Most of the local stuff would not survive constitutional challenge, but as history reveals, unconstitutional laws remain on the books until challenged in federal court. I was arrested, fined, required to report in, etc., etc., all many months before I was convicted of a driving violation. Due process is a joke when there is no federal protection of my constitutional rights.

      Hi, great article. I am being hounded by Linebarger and Goggan regarding a traffic ticket I already paid around 2003. Hopefully, I can resolve this issue with them, but the problem is that I am indigent. I receive $885 in SSDI per month. Mr. Guest, is it possible that I will have my license suspended or I will be arrested without the opportunity to be heard if I don't pay the $300 they are asking? I drove with an outdated maintenance sticker, which I promptly fixed. Tell me I can't go to jail for this? Can you recommend any pro bono help? What options do I have if I want to go to court to resolve this? I am indigent, so all of my filing fees should be free. Thanks. Anthony, Dallas County.

      i am a foreigner and got a ticket in california state a year ago. i didn't pay for it and now i am going to states in a few months' time, will I be faced with an arrest warrant if i pass through the custom?

      It is all about money. Most people don't pay fines because they don't have the money! If you had to choose between feeding your hungry child and insurance what would you pay? Would you not go to work and let your child starve because you didn't have insurance? People cannot afford all this crap!!!~!I work hard I have had insurance for many years, but as a single parent who got no child support I had to make choices. Sometimes my insurance lapsed till I could pay it. $2400.00 a year with a good driving record and an older vehicle! Not to mention 200.00 and up for the slightest infraction of traffic? That's insane!!!!!!

      I am a divorced mom of 5 daughters. I am their sole support. I received a speeding ticket..180.00 I don't have the money. The place I worked at went out of business. I am scared, the ticket is due tomorrow, I wonder if I show up to plead guilty but unable to pay fine, will they put me in jail. We only have a few chickens left to butcher. Can they put me in jail for unpaymentof this speeding ticket?

      I am angry that they can put a warrant out for arrest in Texas. This is ridiculous and they come knocking on your door in front of your kids and family for as low as $50. This happened to me last night. I am a single mom at home getting my child ready for bed and a Tarrant County officer came banging on my door and flashlighting my windows trying to take me to jail. What the hell is wrong with this inconsiderate jerk who should be out arresting the real criminals. I am a single mother and have lost my job twice this year and its been a struggle. And they want to come banging on my door for 30 minutes scaring my child who had school in the morning by the way for a court cost from a traffic ticket. Is there any justice in the U.S. or the state of Texas. We have soldiers out here fighting for our live and they get ruined over traffic tickets inside our own country because of the hardships of some. Sick, makes me so sick. After losing my job I lost my car, my home and other things. Those things can be replaced though but someone taking me to jail in front of my child is not.       wow what a let down cedar hill has the stores and shops but not the customer service of mansfield. go shop in cedar hill and if someone helps you i will give ya $10 bucks. i have started twittering to spend your money in mansfield and shoplift in cedar hill. i am not promoting criminal activity, but with such bad customer service it invites theft because no one is watching what is going on. in my opinion it is worth the drive to mansfield for a friendly face and good advice when making a purchase.. so i am letting my money do the walking and talking for me.... fell free to call me or place a hidden camera on me and see for yourself our stores are wide open for theft because everyone is in the back texting on their cell.... come on take the challenge go into 5 stores and i bet my house you will not get 1 greeting.. that includes walmart.........( and they have greeters LOL )

      Oh yes, just as Democrats did for eight long years. The Democrat vision of the United States during the Bush presidency was viewed through a prism of abject negativity, and then Democrats have the nerve to cry in their toasted oats when the tables are turned on their great community organizing president and his Congressional band of nitwits. Contrary to the typical perception of those whom disagree with our executive community organizer, I fully believe that Obama is brilliant (just had to get that off my chest...) - Obama is doing everything that he has pledged to do. But lets face it, Congressional Democrats hold the combined intellectual integrity of a frozen corndog. Even worse, what does this say for the people that voted the Democrats into office? This may not be P.C., but it is real. And so....

      - You simply cannot ignore the fact that the voting electorate that did not fall into the hypnotism of Obama's charm have questioned the constitutionality of Opelosibama Care. Simply put, our federal government has no Constitutional authority to take over a private sector which comprises 18% of the national economy. The Constitution was written with the original intent of providing a strong, but limited government that will provide for national defense and the protections of citizens from the lawlessness of others - all other powers are left to the individual states. There is no article of the Constitution that otherwise empowers or grants the federal government with unlimited power to deliberately create an overbearing imposition within the lives of lawful Americans. Democrats cite the Commerce clause of the Constitution as the great authorization to pillage and destroy....but nope, it's not there. Democrats love to cite the General Welfare clause in order to shape society with the new brand of "general welfare" promoted by Great Society liberals. Unfortunately for these witless munchkins, the welfare clause of the Constitution was not written to include food stamps, Section 8 housing to crack addicts, and free medical care to those whom prefer government control in lieu of personal responsibility. More to the point, our system of law states that it is illegal to force adult Americans to receive healthcare which they do not want to receive - yet Democrats want to impose health insurance mandates on all Americans and force Americans to receive healthcare. While Democrats hurdle headlong into a mystical fairytale somewhere far away from the land of sanity, Americans are watching patient rights being sucked into an unconstitutional void.

      - The problem that Americans face with the constitutionality of Opelosibama Care is that Obama and his Democratic misfits in Congress believe that Constitutionality is in the eye of the beholder. Curiously, I submit to you Obama's perception of the Constitution: "Ultimately, though, I have to side with Justice Breyer's view of the Constitution - that it is not static but rather a living document, and must be read in the context of an ever-changing world." The Audacity of Hope (pg. 90). What Obama is saying is that he views the Constitution as a flexible guideline that can be molded to fit personal ambitions and shaped to fit a political campaign that offers lawless vote-buying in the name of various unconstitutional entitlement sweepstakes. Obama believes that sociological and physical circumstance defines the application of our laws. Is Obama's view remotely realistic? To accurately create a parallel example, imagine that you are driving down the road. The speed limit sign reads 45 m.p.h. Do you drive at 45 m.p.h.? If Obama's view on the interpretation of law is correct, then you should be allowed to determine the context of the law that orders a maximum speed of 45 m.p.h. and determine that since the sky is clear, traffic is relatively light, and the road runs straight ahead with no curves that you can drive relatively safely at 95 m.p.h. If we believe that laws and legislation are not static, can we insert our opinions and personal perceptions to accomodate our personal agendas? If so, I'll never be late to work again....

      - But why would Obama side with an extreme Constitutional point of view? At one time, did Obama not pretend to be a professor of Constitutional law? Why does Obama reject the intent and purpose of the Constitution as written by the Founding Fathers of our nation? Again I refer you to The Audacity of Hope: "There's a school of thought that sees the Founding fathers only as hypocrites and the Constitution as a betrayal of the grand ideas set forth by the Declaration of Independance; that agrees with early abolitionists that the Great Compromise between North and South was a pact with the Devil." (Throwing out the race card?)

      - While Americans are either embracing Opelosibama Care or hating Opelosibama Care, has anyone noticed that this monstrous bill aims to effectively eliminate the antitrust exemptions held by insurance companies? Does anyone even care? If you actually care about the future of healthcare in this nation, get your jar of Vaseline, bend over, grab your ankles, and ask yourself why the government would even care to end antitrust exemptions of insurance companies. The notion of legislating antitrust regulations is almost entirely noble - those "evil" insurance companies will no longer be able to form market monopolies, nor will they be able to assault Americans with price fixing at ourageously expensive rates, or even arrange business mergers that drive up costs. Merrily, antitrust laws will allow the government to increase regulations against corporate insurance companies and eliminate certain judicial protections. Sounds great, huh? Now for the ugly part...... Why would the government implement laws that guarantee market competition when the government will be the primary competitor of existing private insurance companies? If the government truly cared about market competitiveness, would they not legalize private health insurance policies across state lines? For that matter, will the government be subject to antitrust laws? Stop laughing now and note that the government will be allowed to implement premium costs that are much lower than market value - otherwise known as predatory pricing by private companies, but considered fair and just when offered by government liberals - while those great antitrust regulations will prohibit insurance companies from doing the same thing. Will the private insurance companies (while pricing premiums through the restrictions of market forces) be capable of competing with artificially low prices offered by government insurance? If you haven't figured this one out yet, the end of antitrust exemptions to insurance companies will eventually drive private insurance out of business and leave the U.S. government as the primary insurer to all Americans. Guess what you have then - single payer healthcare! Oh.... and while Democrats in Congress are conducting ethics investigations (what a joke...), remember that antitrust legislation is a major gift from the Democrats to trial lawyers - a.k.a. one of the the biggest groups of campaign contributors to Democratic political campaigns and also one of the biggest group of vampires sucking the blood of insurance malpractice  costs. Okay now - straighten up, dry off, and remember that it only hurts when you're thinking; Democrats don't seem to feel a thing....

      Today’s Media Matters’ headline declares: “Right-Wing Media Respond To Fort Hood Shooting By Attacking American Muslims”:

      But none of the “right wingers” they cite in their post do any such thing.

      Not one of them calls on the federal government to, say, round up and jail American Muslims. Not one suggests the bombing of local mosques, a halt to immigration from Muslim nations, or even giving hijab clad women dirty looks on the subway.

      The pundits quoted by Media Matters do mention the Fort Hood shooter by name, obviously, with blogger Pamela Geller calling him a “pig.”

      Another blogger, Debbie Schlussel, denounces “all of the other Muslim American traitorous soldiers in the U.S. military who’ve shot their fellow soldiers up and killed them or otherwise helped the enemy” — a pattern soundly documented at Investor’s Business Daily last week.

      Like the other “right wingers” singled out by Media Matters (such as Michelle Malkin and Tucker Carlson) Geller and Schlussel confine their comments to the very specific subject of Muslims currently serving in the American military, and how they are being trained and treated. A timely topic for discussion if ever there was one.

      Unless you’re a professional leftist at Media Matters, where looking through the wrong end of the telescope is part of the job description.

      Nothing Malkin or the others said seemed particularly shocking or outrageous to me, naturally. (Then again, I used up my weekend quota of “outrage” on General Casey, whose recent remarks wouldn’t sound terribly out of place in the Media Matters comments section.)

      What I did find troubling was the sheer number of question marks sprinkled among their statements.

      Even my fellow “right wingers” — among them the bravest and most outspoken on “our side” –  feel obliged (perhaps by the current rules for polite, politically correct discourse) to “phrase their answers in the form of a question.” Like you have to do on that game show.

      What’s it called again? Oh yeah: Jeopardy.

       and now that they have gotten so dependent on the healthcare industry, rather  than each individual being responsible for their own health and the health of their chidren, they depend on mass amounts of  trips to medical professionals to "fix" them , (reminds Me  of an old colloquialism for Ford, (Fix Or Repair Daily or Found On Road Dead) these arose out of friendly competion of Ford and Chevvy owners . for Chevrolet, it was (Shove It Or Leave It)  like taking your car to the local mechanic but the human body , unlike the automobile, cannot always be repaired , and it's not like you can just jack up the radiator cap and drive a new one under it , so now it has gotten so expensive  to keep people alive, that healthcare will possibly soon be rationed , and quite possibly healthy supposedly lessor important people could be "sacrificed" to keep some members of the ruling class alive, now wouldn't that be for what they call the "GREATER GOOD" .

       THIS healthcare legislature has really opened on huge can of  worms, and it is headed to where only the ruling class will virtually be taken care of , this is what was voted for the last  2 elections out of a perceived hatred for an adminstration that strived for the "GREATER GOOD"  of protecting  this country as prescribed by the constitution , of PROTECTING AND DEFENDING   the constitution and the Patriotic People of this country , so now We all have ended up with and installed government whose soul intent  is  to subvert the Constituion  of the United States of America and give all powers to the Executive  Branch, which would eventuall disband the elected representatives and install what they  call, The Ruling Class or "Elites" .

      what I find interesting is Government railing against the greed  of Big Business, when it is the greed of those in government and of the welfare poor that are wreaking a bigger havoc, but understand their thinking, it takes the heat off what they are doing, and DEMONIZES  the people that working people depend on  for  jobs , I've had some not so good employers, but in My estimation, NONE have  ever been as bad as our present "ruling" class in Washington D.C.

      and "sharing the wealth" is what has brought the  US Automakers to the brink and past Baunkruptcy , and wiped out massive amounts of people's savings for retirement , of which none of this has ever to this day been addressed , and was perpetuated further by the present Administation and their "elected cohorts" in congress , becuz  the Adminstration and the liberal dominated congress , want to centralize all power in this country , in Washington D.C., and the absolute truth about making all people equal in wealth is, there will be 2 classes in this country , The Ruling class, and everyone else , the Poor , there will be little opportunity  "to get ahead" .

      I don't usually post entire articles, but this is important enough that I feel it must be done. Too many people see the healthcare bills as some sort of gift from Congress. The old axiom "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch" applies here. This isn't about healthcare except in the most marginal of ways. This bill is about diverting a revenue stream from private business to federal coffers. They mean to use this for community programs as loosely outlined in the bill and these programs have little if anything to do with healthcare. Having passed the bill, they don't have to ask for your input to implement a plethora of programs which will cost billions and burden our children and grandchildren with a punishing load of taxes for their entire lives. I wanted my kids to have more than I did.  Instead they will have to settle for less-less jobs, less money, less freedom. It's not supposed to be this way and that is why so many of us are so angry, dismayed and distraught at what is passing for representation in Washington. Anyway, read it, really read it. And find out what we've been signed on to.

      Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional law. I was frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected. 
                  
      To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularl y where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably forced participation in abortions by members of the medical profession.
                  
      The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats and most of them will not be health care professionals. Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled. 
                  
      However, as scary as all of that it, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care  choices. Instead it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been  contemplated. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed. 
                  
      The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people and the businesses they own. The irony is that the Congress doesn’t have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with. I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care. 
                 
      This legislation also provides for access by the appointees of the Obama administration of all of your personal healthcare information, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and hospital. All of this is a direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures. You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide. 
                  
      If you decide not to have healthcare insurance or if you have private insurance that is not deemed “acceptable” to the “Health Choices Administrator” appointed by Obama there will be a tax imposed on you. It is called a “tax” instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment.  However, that doesn’t work because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is “definitely depriving someone of property without the due process of law”. 
                  
      So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so much out the original ten in the Bill of Rights that are effectively nullified by this law. It doesn’t stop there though. The 9th Amendment that provides: “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;” The 10th Amendment states: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control. 
                  
      I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to “be bound by oath or affirmation” to support the Constitution. If I was a member of Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway I would hope the American
      people would hold me accou ntable.

      As we find ourselves in the throes of a mini depression let examine the causes and try to find                           

      the cure.  It’s obvious that Congress is too embroiled in petty politics to solve our dilemma in

      a reasonable fashion. 

       

      First we have to examine the obvious; the financial meltdown of Wall Street and the terrible

      crash of the housing market.  The finger points at greed in both cases.  Both political parties,

      and the past 4 administrations are just as guilty as the other.  This constant blame game that

      has gone on for the last 8 years has exacerbated the problem and driven us farther and farther

      away from a positive solution.  We know the Wall Street problem stems from the housing

      situation, as huge amounts of capital were invested in these high risk loans.  When the Real

      Estate crash hit it depleted equity positions and caused a run on the industry never before

      experienced.  Banks failed at an alarming rate causing the Federal Reserve to stretch beyond its

      means. 

       

      What caused this catastrophe in the first place?

      I believe it was the long term effect of the desire of the Clinton administration to open the

      Housing market to those who normally couldn’t afford one.  Their instructions to Fannie Mae

      Lowered the standards for loan qualifications.  At once this became a boon to the industry as

      millions of previously unqualified buyers flooded the market.  Prices soared and everyone

      was convinced they would never go back down only up and up.  Suddenly real estate was the

      gold standard of the world.  The Bush administration made one half hearted attempt to control

      this runaway train but was rebuffed by the likes of Frank, Dodd and Waters and retreated into

      a cocoon of silence.  The attempt by Bush’s Secretary of the Treasury Paulson to bailout the

      banks was the worst decision that could have been possible.  $780 Billion of our tax dollars

      simply disappeared into a whirlpool of greed and fraud.  The Obama administration has

      worsened the situation with their attempt to Nationalize the banking and auto industry.  The so

      called stimulus they pushed down our throat was more Pork than substance and just paid back

      the liberal establishment for their loyalty. 

       

      Unemployment; 

      Now that the rate has hit over 10% even the diehard Union establishment

      must be questioning the process.  Jobs are created by small business not government

      employment.  Throwing Billions into supposed green jobs and temporary employment

      programs is not going to solve the unemployment situation.  The trickery of numbers being

      thrown about by the administration are a farce.   Show me 640,000 saved jobs and I’ll eat my

      hat.  Jobs are created by an active market and a population that has confidence in the

      economy.   If only a smidgeon of the bailout and stimulus money that has been wasted on the

      auto industry and banking was used for tax incentives and low interest loans for businesses that

      were willing to expand and hire new workers there wouldn’t have been a need for an auto

      bailout.  

       

      Congressional arrogance;

      We are in the midst of an attempted takeover of our country by an elite group of supposed

      Representatives, that could care less what you think.  They believe that they are the supreme

      power in this country and will do whatever they think is in their best interest.  The fact that

      they were elected to do the bidding of the people who put them there is irrelevant, they

      feel they know what’s best for America.  We were warned about this happening when our

      founding fathers wrote the Constitution.  These elitist arrogant egotists, have ignored all

      aspects of the Constitution and our rights in general.  If we allow these people to force a

      vote on medical reform, without allowing both parties of the Congress and the people to study

      the content of the bill, we might as well have capitulated to The Soviet Union in the 60’s.  It’s

      time to find your Cahonies America, it’s time to recall the entire bunch and start over with

      people who understand the American way and our Constitution.

Once they do and their CFO does a respectable job for them, they often value their background more than a full-time employer. There is nothing like knowing that I have been able to make a significantly positive impact for my clients, and then having those clients thank me for my knowledge, wisdom, expertise, and skill.  Adding value far beyond my cost in a market that has so many un-served needs provides me with a tremendous amount of fulfillment and satisfaction.

      COMMAND OF FUTURE

      The decisions and practices of others can negatively impact anyone at any time, often without warning.  In addition, many may be tempted to do things with which they disagree or that are contrary to their values when they feel financial pressure. The diversification of my sources of income have empowered me know I control my future more than anyone else, and the decisions of others will have very little impact on my income and values. 

      OBJECTIVITY

      Income from many clients, not just one employer, increases my objectivity. My personal agenda and priorities take a back seat to the best interest of my clients and I work to serve their interests above my own. I am more willing to have a "tough" conversation with the CEO or owner of one of my clients because it is the right thing to do, regardless of how it might impact me personally.

      I have found that my clients appreciate this about my ability to approach them in this manner, and they often look to use and implement more of my advice than some prior full-time employers. One of our CFOs was recently in a board meeting with a new client when the chairman of the board looked past all of the other executives and managers and asked our partner: "You work for many companies in many industries and have an objective opinion of things. What do you think we need to be doing to improve this company?"

      FLEXIBILITY

      No matter their personal and professional priorities, those committed to this industry enjoy more time flexibility than most other one-employer jobs afford. I control my schedule and can easily include as much or as little vacation, personal, civic, religious, and other time as I want to complement my professional responsibilities. 

      RESPECTABLE CAREER IN A GROWING INDUSTRY

      The part-time CFO industry has grown and developed tremendously in the last twenty years. This is no longer an industry defined by CFOs who try to get a few clients until they find a full-time job. There are many professionals in North America that have dedicated their entire careers to this industry and who have established or are in the process of establishing a long-term clientele.

      Bankers, attorneys, CPAs, investors, and other professionals respect this industry and the value-added to businesses.  In fact, they are often a major source of our referrals. Knowing that the future of the economy is primarily based on innovation and entrepreneurs who commercialize that innovation into thriving organizations, I know that our impact is significant and that we have the respect of all who understand what we do. 

      POTENTIAL RISKS

      This industry is not without potential risks, which include professional liability and lost time and resources learning how to best market, sell, and service clients. An additional risk is the tendency most in this industry have to base their entire income only on their own billable time without opportunities to leverage their efforts into additional income.

      Joining the part-time CFO industry has been a rewarding career choice for me in accomplishing my goals and objectives.  I encourage anyone who is interested in this industry to learn more and consider these benefits and risks along with the additional benefits that part-time CFO firms offer.

  • Politically Incorrect.... but

      Perhaps too long since my last moments of coffee inspired political rambling. Those who have blogged here for a while know of my offensive and politically incorrect mumblings, which have (unfortunately) been limited for the last year. There are times, though, that lunacy overwhelms our society and the ability to remain muted becomes impossible. I've noticed a few occurances that must simply be discussed for the sake of sanity.

       

      - Democrats, liberals, progressives, welfare recipients, and the 2008 Obama voting crowd whom proclaimed "Alright, now I don't gotta pay no more for gas or bills! Obama gonna take care of us all" have all joined in celebration that the AARP has endorsed Obama/PelosiCare (hey, an oxymoron!). Did this mass clump of single brain cell wondermuffins tell you that the AARP is a lobbying organization which stands to profit nicely from passage of legislation that will damage U.S. healthcare? Check it out for yourself

      Question: Should the elderly take the blue pill, the red pill, or the pain pill?

       

      - The abortion debate included in Obama/PelosiCare centers on the supposed dire needs of women to get abortions. The need to suck that little inconvenience out of your womb is protected by a leftist argument that women will die from complications during pregnancy. In the eyes of "progressives," those 1.5 million abortions performed "out of necessity for the health of the mother" completely overshadows Ladies Night at the local bar when ladies' drinks were free and the pudgy Don Juan staring at you from across the bar became simply irresistable..... A blogger recently wrote "Did it ever occur to you that abortions are necessary. Or you would rather the mother and the kid die together. Maybe even share the same coffin to save money..." This argument has become the biggest fallacy in the pro-abortion movement. You would be hard pressed to find verifiable cases in the real world (the world separated from DailyKos and MSNBC) that insists that a mother would have died if she had not had an abortion. Former U.S. Surgeon General, C. Everett Koop stated that he was never aware of a single situation in which a pre-born child's life had to be taken to save the life of the mother. Ditto for Dr. Ron Paul. Ditto for thousands of other medical doctors, including Dr. Beverly McMillan, a former abortionist who admitted that she had "never heard of a situation in the practice of medicine where an unborns child's life needed to be intentionally destroyed to save the life of the mother".

      Question: Considering that progressives are named due to their belief in "progress," is denying a baby of life considered progress?

       

      - Our Community Organizer-in-Chief signed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act into law. Hate crimes legislation is hailed as a glorious achievement to symbolize the greatness of America to accept minorities and lend sympathy and empathy to the perilous plight of the wrongfully imperiled - to make a statement that gays, lesbians, racial minorites, and the Jewish will be specifically elevated when their lives are affected by senseless acts of human indignity..... Yeah, I just wrote that and it sounds terrific. Unfortunately though, hate crime legislation specifically targets the minds of criminals - creating, for all practical purposes, a "thought crime" bill that imposes stiffer sentences for what you were thinking at the time you broke the law. At one time, Americans were safe within their own minds from the government,.... well..... with the exception of the Salem witch trials..... but obviously not any more. Nice of the government to create a ranking system which scores the value of crimes while transforming the principle of "rule of law" into the "emotion of law".

       Question: If I steal a car while simultaneously thinking happy thoughts and hoping for world peace, can I get a lighter prison sentence?

       

      - Thom Hartmann, famed ultra-liberal progressive radio talk show host.... well.... not really famous, but you might know him as the leftist Air America/ Rational Radio host who absolutely detests private business and individual liberty admitted today that the U.S. needs an imperial and tyrannical "Big Government" in order to protect American citizens from those greedy corporations (you know, the companies that Americans work for...). More provocatively, Hartmann also stated that if you do not share in his views that excessive taxation defines the greatness of America, that you are guilty of treason. At least a liberal admitted to insanity....

       Question: Do you consider yourself patriotic for paying taxes in order to fund unconstitutional government entitlement programs?

       

      More topics to come soon, including Pelosi's grand scheme to make all Americans as intellectually feeble as she is and a also a discussion of liberals spiking Kool-Aid in order to make Americans believe that revenue from taxes implemented by cap-and-trade will magically reverse the effects of global warming. Here's a thought: if you line my pockets with cash, I'll insist that I can save the world too.....

A week later it overheats on me, so I have it towed to a shop. When it gets there they tell me that I need to return it! This guy sold me a car that had over 2,100 dollars worth of things that need to be fixed. I have only had this car a month and have only put maybe 1,000 miles on it. I called Joe and told him what was going on, and he LAUGHED in my face! The check cleared and now he could care less. I asked him politely to "help" me out, not pay for it, but just to assist me in making this right and then he just got mad and told me that I bought the car and that's it. I can not believe that in today's day and age that people like this are still allowed to be in business. I am a hard working member of the community and this guy takes my money and "runs".       After eight years working at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Bryan, Texas, including two years as its director, Abby Johnson suddenly decided that she could no longer participate in abortions. What pushed Johnson out was both an ultrasound of an abortion and a renewed emphasis on the cash-generating business in the failing economy. After being told to deemphasize prevention and market for abortions, Johnson finally had enough:

      According to Johnson, the non-profit was struggling under the weight of a tough economy, and changing it’s business model from one that pushed prevention, to one that focused on abortion.

      “It seemed like maybe that’s not what a lot of people were believing any more because that’s not where the money was. The money wasn’t in family planning, the money wasn’t in prevention, the money was in abortion and so I had a problem with that,” said Johnson.

      Johnson said she was told to bring in more women who wanted abortions, something the Episcopalian church goer recently became convicted about. …

      Johnson now supports the Coalition For Life, the pro-life group with a building down the street from Planned Parenthood. Coalition volunteers can regularly be seen praying on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood. Johnson has been meeting with the coalition’s executive director, Shawn Carney, and has prayed with volunteers outside Planned Parenthood.

      The television station has video of Johnson’s interview at the link, so be sure to watch it.

      What was the reaction of Planned Parenthood?  They sued Johnson and the Coalition for Life and filed restraining orders against both.  They claim that Johnson and the CFL wanted to breach the confidentiality of their clients, but nothing in the KBTX report indicates that Johnson had any such intention.  In fact, Johnson was unaware of the suit when KBTX’s report went to air last night.

      It doesn’t surprise me to see Planned Parenthood pressure its offices to push abortions harder.  That’s their core business, after all, and with less money flowing into the abortion mills, they need to market it more aggressively.  It does remove the veneer of “community service” that PP claims while defending themselves, however.  They’re in the mass-production abortion business, plain and simple, which Johnson finally discovered.
